Permission-light Shopify automation

Automate the safe work. Keep control of the rest.

SellBetter begins read-only. Every first change shows an exact preview and needs approval. After opt-in, guarded alt-text and product metadata fixes can run with a snapshot, live verification, activity history, and one-click undo.

Descriptions and theme changes always require approval.
01
Progressive permissions

Ask for access only when the feature needs it.

The core Shopify connection uses read-only product and theme access. Product write access is requested later, when a merchant chooses to enable supported automation. Analytics access is also optional and reserved for measured outcome reporting.

  • Install with read_products and read_themes
  • Request write_products only when automation is enabled
  • Request read_analytics only for measured outcomes
  • No customer, order, discount, price-rule, or script-tag access
02
Clear approval boundaries

The first write is never invisible.

Before anything changes, SellBetter identifies the resource, current value, proposed value, required scope, risk level, and verification method. The first write requires approval even for a supported low-risk action.

  • Exact before-and-after preview
  • Affected product and field named explicitly
  • Product descriptions remain approval-only
  • Theme writes are outside the current release
03
Proof and reversibility

Every applied change must be verifiable and undoable.

A snapshot is stored before the write. SellBetter checks the live Shopify resource after application, records the activity, and returns an undo identifier. If verification fails, the change cannot appear as a successful fix.

  • Pre-change snapshot and activity record
  • Live resource verification after the write
  • Authoritative success or failure state
  • One-click undo using the saved snapshot
The guarded write path

Preview first. Apply second. Prove last.

Automation is useful only when the merchant can understand, approve, verify, and reverse it. Those controls are part of the change—not optional documentation added afterward.

  1. 01

    Preview

Show the exact resource, old value, new value, scope, and risk.

  2. 02

    Approve

Require the first approval and preserve approval-only boundaries.

  3. 03

    Apply

Snapshot the original value before making the supported write.

  4. 04

    Verify + undo

Confirm the live result, record the activity, and retain rollback.

Questions, answered

Know exactly what happens next.

Clear limits, clear evidence, and no invented performance claims.

Can SellBetter change my store immediately after installation?+

No. Installation is read-only. Optional product-write access is requested only when you enable supported automation, and the first change requires approval.

Which changes can run automatically after opt-in?+

Guarded product image alt text and supported product SEO metadata changes. The response includes the exact diff, affected resource, risk, verification result, and undo identifier.

Can SellBetter rewrite product descriptions automatically?+

No. Product-description changes always require approval because they carry higher brand, legal, and conversion risk.

Does SellBetter request theme-write access?+

No. The release requests read-only theme context. Theme-write access will not be requested until a real guarded theme-editing feature exists.
